Woodchucks beat up Mallards in Wausau

WAUSAU, Wis. -

The Mallards road trip to Wausau didn't go as planned, as the Woodchucks bludgeoned Madison 5-3 on Saturday. 

The game started out well for the Mallards as Logan Regnier scored on an error to take a 1-0 lead. Then in the second inning, Adam Walton drove in Robbie Tenerowicz and the Mallards jumped out to a 2-0 lead. 

That lead evaporated in the bottom of the third inning when a wild pitch scored Alex Cordova to cut the Mallards lead to one. Then Brendon Hayden's single drove in Ryan Donovan to tie things up a 2-2. 

In the fifth inning, the Woodchucks pounced. Donovan smashed a solo homer over the right field fence to take a 3-2 lead. Then an error in right field scored Cody Hanke to push the Woodchucks lead to 4-2. Another error in the fifth inning scored Paul DeJong
