MADISON, Wis. -

Madison police said a 23-year-old woman used tracking technology to find her stolen iPhone.

The downtown resident told police she used her laptop to track her phone to a Fitchburg home after it was stolen around 2 a.m. from Genna’s Cocktail Lounge at 105 W. Main St. on March 22, according to a release.

The 23-year-old rode with officers to the home where a 29-year-old said he found the phone early last Saturday morning on a sidewalk near a hotel, officials said. He later told police he found it in a bathroom at Genna’s.

While the 29-year-old had the iPhone, he sent a friend request to the woman’s Facebook account and used her phone to accept the request, according to the release. The woman said she does not know the man, and the officer told him to not have contact with her.
