Wisconsin ranks No.2 in national economic report

With the economy failing to gain speed, take a look at the five worst and five best cities for upward economic mobility.

MADISON, Wis. -

Wisconsin ranks second in leading economic indicators according to the June report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia released Tuesday.

The report is a six-month forecast based on the state's current coincident index, housing permit data, unemployment claims and various Treasury rates.

According to the report, Wisconsin came in first in the Midwest and is exceeding the national growth rate.

In a release from his office, Gov. Scott Walker said, "The rankings are another sign the work we are doing is improving the business climate in the state."

According to the release, Wisconsin ranked fifth in the coincidence index in June. This was also the sixth time since 1980 the state has ranked in the top five.
