MADISON, Wis. -

A well-known Democratic Party of Wisconsin adviser is leaving his position.

In an email, Graeme Zielinski announced Friday that he was leaving.

Zielinski had been demoted in March to an adviser from his job as the party's spokesman. He had compared Republican Gov. Scott Walker to Milwaukee serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer on Twitter.

Zielinski, a former newspaper reporter, said he was working on a writing project.

He also suggested on his Facebook page Saturday that he has been dealing with a "health scare" recently. He doesn't offer specifics.

Party Chairman Mike Tate said the party was proud of Zielinski's work to move them forward.

Walker campaign spokeswoman Nicole Tieman also announced her departure Friday in an email.
