WIAA tournaments to stay in Green Bay

Published On: Sep 16 2013 10:02:49 PM CDT

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association volleyball and girls basketball tournaments will not be returning to Madison anytime soon.

The board voted unanimously Monday morning to keep the two tournaments in Green Bay until 2020.

The basketball tournament moved out of Madison for the first time on a two-year trial in Green Bay that started in March.

WIAA leaders said they were impressed with support from the community, hotels, restaurants and fans.

“We look forward to all of the promise that our conversations and past experience contains for our future. And we look forward to the potential of this event,” said Brad Toll, with the Greater Green Bay Visitors Bureau.

The volleyball tournament will be there in November with tickets going on sale at the end of the month.
