Which dashboard warning lights require immediate attention?

From time to time we’ve all had a light unexpectedly show up on our vehicle’s dashboard. But how do we know when we can postpone maintenance on the issue and when we need to seek immediate attention? Find out here!

Check Engine: If the Check Engine light comes on, you should have your car serviced within the next few days. However, if the light is blinking or red, then your vehicle may need immediate assistance.

Tire Pressure: The Tire Pressure light will come on if at least one tire has low air pressure. If your car seems to be driving OK, you should be able to wait to add air to the tire until the next time you’re at the gas station. If your car isn’t driving normally or if you have continuous air-pressure problems, then you may need to see a professional for help.

Oil Change Reminder: This light is reset by a mechanic after each oil change to remind you when you are due for your next service appointment. When you see the light come on, it doesn’t mean there’s anything urgent wrong with your vehicle, it just means it’s time to schedule another oil change.

ABS: This light represents your Anti-Lock Brake System. This light will flicker on to show you when ABS is engaged – usually in slippery conditions or emergency braking. The ABS allows the driver to retain steering control and prevents the wheels from locking.
