Storm could drop a foot of snow in NW Wisconsin

Published On: Apr 11 2013 07:06:16 AM CDT

A mixture of freezing rain and sleet is expected to change to heavy, wet snow in northwestern Wisconsin where forecasters say up to a foot of accumulation is expected from a series of storms raked the Midwest.

Icy conditions are making travel challenging across central Wisconsin from La Crosse to Green Bay with wind gusts of up to 40 mph. The precipitation is causing some flooding in parts of the state. Flood warnings have been issued for Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Jefferson, Rock, Green and Lafayette counties.

Village Park in the small Ozaukee County community of Thiensville was under water Thursday and village officials were concerned flooding from the Milwaukee River could move beyond the park.

About 3,500 We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service customers were without power Thursday morning.
