Walter "Walt" Thomas Hagey

DeForest Walter "Walt" Hagey, age 74, of DeForest was born on August 10, 1938 in Chicago IL, the son of Edward Thomas and Eva Dorothy (Krueger) Hagey. He passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday April 28, 2013, while holding hands with his wife; kids and grandkids at his side. He was a much loved husband, father, and grandfather. Walt was united in marriage to Carol Carstens in Chicago on November 19, 1960 and they enjoyed 53 long years together.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Hagey; his sons, Brian (Bing Bing) Hagey of Lodi, Keith (Dawn) Hagey of Sun Prairie; daughter, Heather Hagey-Blicharz of Madison; and five proud grandsons, David, Tristin, Bradyn, Alexander, and Nicholas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Walt began his career in the lumber industry traveling the Western U.S. visiting many lumber mills to learn the business and he was in lumber for many years. He loved to hunt, fish and boat; and had a passion for bowling and photography. He enjoyed his family, playing softball, golf, and the outdoors.

A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, WINDSOR/DEFOREST CHAPEL, 6924 Lake Road with Pastor Dennis Virta officiating.

Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
