MADISON, Wis. -

Gov. Scott Walker's office says the Small Business Administration has declared Appleton and surrounding Outagamie County a disaster area after storms earlier this month, making aid to residents available.

Residents in neighboring counties also can get aid.

Walker's office said Wednesday that homeowners will be able to get low-interest loans of up to $200,000 to repair or replace real estate and loans of up to $40,000 to repair or replace personal property. Businesses and nonprofits can borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace real estate, machinery, equipment and other assets.

Renters also can get loans of up to $40,000 to repair or replace personal property.

Walker sought help from the SBA after the Aug. 7 storm system didn't qualify for a Federal Emergency Management disaster declaration.
