WIS. DELLS, Wis. -

Police have identified the man who died on a Dells go-kart track as 45-year old Wade Wiese.

The Iowa native was vacationing with his family when the accident took place at Alligator Alley Adventures.

Wiese was killed after he lost control of his go-kart and hit a wooden post Wednesday night.

Tom Diehl is on Lake Delton's Village Board of Trustees and is a member of the Visitor's Bureau.  He said attractions must pass any required state inspections then show a certificate of insurance before the village will allow them to open.

Department of Safety and Professional Services, DSPS, carries out state inspections.  A public information officer with DSPS said Alligator Alley Adventures just passed their annual inspection three weeks ago.

Orlando Pedroza took over the former Extreme World park after Teagan Marti fell from the terminal velocity ride in 2010.

"They had been running the Alligator Attraction for quite some time.  They've done a wonderful job keeping their property up to date," said Diehl.

DSPS also said the owner had no prior history of any problems.  A state statute regulates multiple areas when it comes to go-kart safety: vehicle, track, course speed and signage.

The course will stay closed until further notice.  A state engineer will visit the site early next week to look at the course again.
