MADISON, Wis. -

New technology is changing the way one University of Wisconsin department is teaching its students.

The School of Veterinary Medicine has started using Google Glass to record surgeries and other cases.

The school got the device last fall, and officials said it is helping students learn from as many different cases as possible.

“If a particularly interesting case comes in, the faculty clinician will grab the device, document it and then afterward we can show that content to students who may not have seen a rabies case or something interesting like a blockage or a surgery,” UW School of Veterinary Medicine Instructional Designer Tyler Gregory said.

Gregory said he believes the school is the first department at UW to give its clinicians full access to the technology.
