Campus police are investigating two unrelated reported sexual assaults, according to an alert Saturday.
According to University of Wisconsin-Madison Police, the first incident occurred at about 1 a.m. Saturday in a residence hall. A female student told authorities she was touched inappropriately as she was exiting an elevator.
The assailant was described as a white male, 6 feet tall with short brown hair, and wearing a black sweatshirt with white print and tan pants.
UWPD Capt. Karen Soley said the second assault also happened in a UW residence hall, but it was not related to the initially reported assault. Soley said a detailed suspect description was not available because the incident was reported to authorities by someone who did not witness or was not involved in the attack.
Police asked anyone with information about the assaults to call the UW-Madison Police Department at 608-264-2677.
Though little information was available about the reported assaults Saturday afternoon, police said the department was disclosing the incidents per the Clery Act, a federal law that requires campuses to report potential threats to the community in a timely fashion.
