The world today seems a never ending argument for why we need a strong United Nations. Despite the small number of vocal folks who like to blame the UN for the world’s ill and promote an isolationist stand we have never wavered from our belief in the core vision and mission of the UN.
The Dane County Chapter of the United Nations As

sociation observed UN day this week with a reception and program on the Association’s theme for the year the International Year of Water Cooperation. Which is another reason to appreciate the UN. Water is arguably the world’s most pressing concern. Issues with the global water supply have the potential to harm untold millions of people and turn country against country. A host of retired military experts are aggressively touting the need to look at climate change and its effect on water as a national security issue. And they’re right. We support the UN’s attention to this issue, and applaud the Dane County chapter for supporting it.
