Three local players join 2014 Mallards

MADISON -

Three former high school stars from the Madison area will play for the Mallards in the 2014 season.

Infielder Michael Handel, who played high school baseball at Sun Prairie and now is at the University of Minnesota, played for the Mallards in 2011 and 2013. 

He'll be on a temporary contract to start the season.

Joining Handel will be infielder Tony Butler, the former Sun Prairie High School star who just completed his first season at the University of Virginia.

Butler has a full contract with the Mallards.

Former Madison LaFollette outfielder Nate Ricci will also return to town to play for the Mallards at Warner Park. Ricci has played the last two years at the University of Jacksonville. 

Ricci has a temporary contract with the Mallards.
