MY DESK: MADISON -

Sorry to have missed yesterday, but I was with my parents and a couple of my sisters for the day. But I'm back and mercifully so because if I weren't, I would have missed the fact my email was randomly chosen to win a lottery to attend the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. If that wasn't enough, I have more than a little spending money as the FIFA World Cup people are giving me $800,000 as well.

As a generally skeptical person by nature, I was naturally curious as to my good fortune. I know the saying, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. So, I went to the FIFA (the group that organizes international soccer) website (http://www.fifa.com/index.html and somehow, it failed to mention my victory in this contest.

No matter, I'll just email back the contact below at his Yahoo.com account because we all know that someone working for the multi-billion dollar World Cup would operate off a personal email account.

Summarizing these pitches and then, going back to re-read them, you hopefully see how ludicrous they are. Maybe even more importantly, I'm not much of a soccer fan, so it would have been lost on me anyhow.

Take care and just hit delete.

Adam
