MADISON, Wis. -

A Madison teen was arrested Friday when police saw him sprinting, stopped him and found a homemade weapon in his pocket, according to a release.

A Madison police officer on patrol saw a young man sprinting in the 1800 block of East Washington Avenue Friday night around 9:50, according to the release.

The officer said he tried to talk to Jordan Killerlain, 17, of Madison, after noticing he didn’t have athletic clothing on that would be consistent with jogging.

Killerlain tried to walk past the officer and, after stopping, began to fidget in his pockets, according to the release.

After checking Killerlain’s pockets, the officer said he found a homemade weapon. A metal padlock that was tied off inside a white sock was found in Killerlain’s possession to be used for protection.

Killerlain was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and underage person consuming alcohol off licensed premises.

Officials said a witness later contacted police and stated that Killerlain had been reckless earlier in the evening but gave few details.
