Sun Prairie tops Parker in extras to advance to title game

Sun Prairie beat Janesville Parker 8-7 Tuesday night in the Division 1 state semifinal's of the W.I.A.A. state baseball tournament. The Cardinals will play for their third consecutive title Thursday at 6:05 p.m.

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. -

Sun Prairie beat Janesville Parker 8-7 Tuesday night in the Division 1 state semifinal's of the W.I.A.A. state baseball tournament. The Cardinals will  play for their third consecutive title Thursday at 6:05 p.m.

It was a back and forth game but Sun Prairie senior Miachel Marchese's RBI single wins the game in the eighth inning.

The Cardinals and Vikings split their season series so the rubber match was to play for a state title.

Only Nekoosa (1980-1982) has won three straight state baseball titles. Sun Prairie will try to become  just the second team in state history to win three.

The Cardinals will play either Kimberly or Wilmot Union Thursday at 6:05 p.m. at Fox Cities Stadium.

Jefferson, Wisconsin Heights and Ithaca play Wednesday at state.
