Madison police believe a man who was in a woman’s bed Friday morning might be connected to two other break-ins in the same area.
Officers were called to an apartment in the 1700 block of Fordem Avenue early Friday morning when a 44-year-old woman woke to find a stranger in her bed with his arm around her. She told police the man was under the influence and she helped him out of her apartment.
Police said the man got into the apartment through an unlocked window. Nothing was taken and the woman said the man had touched her chest when his arm was around her, but she was not otherwise sexually assaulted.
While police were at the scene, a man matching the description was spotted trying to get into a residence in the 1800 block of Fordem Avenue. A 31-year-old woman said the man tried several times to open her sliding door, but it was locked.
While investigating those two cases, a burglary was reported in the 1800 block of Fordem Avenue. Police said the burglary likely occurred in the early morning hours. A 45-year-old man told police three rifles and a laptop computer were missing from his unlocked apartment.
The guns were found in a nearby courtyard, but the computer was not.
The suspect is described as black, in his 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build. He’s possibly named Dave. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black jeans and tennis shoes.
