Stephen “Cooter” Heindl

MADISON-Stephen “Cooter” Heindl, age 73, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born on June 6, 1940, in Berlin, the son of Lester Sr. and Verona Heindl. Stephen married Diane Killerlain on Aug. 25, 1962, in Madison. He served in the U.S. Army, and then he joined the reserves for eight years. He loved being a truck driver; he drove for Klemm Tanklines and Bay & Bay. Stephen also enjoyed his veggie garden, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid NASCAR and Packers fan, and loved golfing in his free time.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane; children, Todd and Scott (Mindy) Heindl; grandchildren, Jordan (Dangelo), Marenna, and Bailee; great-grandchildren, Dion Bennett Jr., Devontae Bennett, and Janiya Mcshan; and brother, Lester Jr. (Ramona). He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at Noon on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, with the Rev. Sandra Scheible presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
