NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday that owners would discuss expanded playoffs at the league meeting in Atlanta on May 20.

Owners are considering expanding playoffs to 14 teams for the upcoming season, a move that would also need approval of the players union. It is more likely the change occurs for the 2015 season.

The league appears primed to add more playoff games, with ESPN being added as an additional playoff television partner this week.

The NFL will also experiment with snapping the ball from the 15-yard line on extra points to make them a more challenging 33-yard try during the first two preseason games this season.
