Wisconsin Badgers sophomore running back Melvin Gordon announced Friday he'll return to the Badgers for the 2014 season.
Gordon had asked the NFL Draft Advisory Board to assess his value in next year's draft.
He says, "after talking it over with my family and my coaches, I have decided to come back next year. I love the University of Wisconsin and feel that there is still a lot of room for growth."
Gordon rushed for 1,466 yards this season including 140 or more yards in seven of the Badgers 12 games.
He was a semifinalist for the Maxwell and Doak Walker awards and has led the nation in yards per carry in each of the last two seasons.
Wisconsin head coach Gary Andersen said "We tried to be very supportive throughout the decision-making process and relayed all the information he needed to make an informed decision. I'm glad he can now focus on the bowl game and prepare for a great 2014."
