The Madison Mallards defeated the La Crosse Loggers 2-1 at Warner Park in a unique Northwoods League doubleheader Monday, then won the second game in La Crosse, 4-3.
The two teams played their first game in Madison, then bussed to La Crosse to play the second game at Copeland Park.
Mallards starting pitcher Sterling Sharp was just that in the Mallards game one win.
Sharp pitched five and two-thirds innings allowing just one run and one hit.
The Mallards got on the board first on an Adam Walton sacrifice fly.
After the Loggers tied it, the Mallards got the winning run in the fifth when Pete Alonso drove in Alex Bacon with a single.
In the second game in La Crosse, Alonso and Brian Rodemoyer both hit homers to back the pitching of AJ Bogucki (3-0).
The Mallards finish the first half of the Northwoods League season 17-15. La Crosse fell to 21-13.
