Sam Dekker scored 21 points and added 12 rebounds as the Wisconsin Badger men's basketball team won the Cancun Challenge championship with a 70-63 win over West Virginia Wednesday night.
The Badgers built a 15-point lead in the first half, but had only a 39-31 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, the Mountaineers (6-2), behind Eron Harris' 27 points, closed the gap to 50-46.
But Dekker hit two threes to put Wisconsin back up 64-55.
Wisconsin had a balanced attack in addition to Dekker's big night. Ben Brust had 16, Josh Gasser 11 and Frank Kaminsky 10.
The Badgers moved their record to 8-0 - the best start ever for a Bo Ryan coached team at Wisconsin.
After a few days off over the holiday, the Badgers next game is Wednesday, December 4th as they travel to Virginia for the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.
