The Wisconsin Badger football team had an early wake-up call for practice Wednesday morning.
Head Coach Gary Andersen moved practice to 6 am Wednesday saying getting the work out of the way early helped his players concentrate on other important matters - specifically academics.
"It's the best time with a lot of tests - a lot of things going on but I think they handled it well," Andersen said. "I also want to give them curve balls through spring ball as a young crew to see how they're handling the adjustments on the schedule and surprises for the coaches and surprises for the kids so it was a good morning.. Overall, this crew - they're working hard. We have a long ways to go on offense, defense and special teams, but the care factor is there and they're a fun crew to coach.
Andersen also confirmed that wide receivers coach Chris Beatty is taking over as Wisconsin's recruiting coordinator for Thomas Hammock who left to become running backs coach with the NFL's Baltimore Ravens.
