Utah State's Gary Andersen is set to be hired as the new football coach at Wisconsin, according to reports.
The Wisconsin State Journal reported that Andersen is UW Athletic Director Barry Alvarez's choice to succeed Bret Bielema.
Bielema left to become the head coach at Arkansas.
ESPN reported that Andersen interviewed with Alvarez at Wisconsin on Monday.
Andersen was at Camp Randall last September, coaching Utah State against Wisconsin. The Aggies almost beat the Badgers but missed a 37-yard field goal in the final seconds, giving Wisconsin a 16-14 win.
Andersen has been head coach at Utah State for four seasons, and every year his record has improved. This year, Utah State went 11-2 and won the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl against Toledo, the first bowl win in 19 years.
