The NHL and NHL Players Association have tentatively planned to resume contract talks Tuesday in New York City, ESPN.com reported Sunday.

The players union also is expected to hold a conference call between its executive board and its negotiating committee on Monday, according to the ESPN.com report.

The two sides met for an extended period on Saturday with negotiations lasting into Sunday morning. That was the first meeting between the two sides in two weeks.

The NHL lockout, which was in its 50th day on Sunday, has already ended hopes of having a full 82-game season. Games scheduled for Oct. 11 through Nov. 30 have been called off.
