Cubs sign Scott Baker

Free agent pitcher Scott Baker signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.

Baker can earn $1.5 million in performance bonuses, in addition to his $5.5 million base salary, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney.

The 31-year-old is returning from Tommy John surgery, and could be ready in the early part of the season, barring setbacks.
