Sixth sentenced in marijuana conspiracy case

MADISON, Wis. -

A Madison man sentenced to five years in prison Thursday is the sixth to be sentenced in a California to Wisconsin marijuana case, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Eissa Kazi, 23, was sentenced for possessing a firearm in connection with a conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

Prosecutors said Kazi distributed marijuana in Dane County, including on the University of Wisconsin campus. Police said a pound of marijuana, a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic handgun and $46,000 in cash was found in Kazi’s residence.

Chad Ruenger, 34, of Waterloo, was sentenced on Dec. 19 to seven years in prison for possessing marijuana and using and carrying firearms in connection with a drug crime. Joshua Campbell, 28, of Madison, was sentenced on Jan. 31 to three years in prison for conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Daniel Frazier, 48, of Fairfax, Calif., was sentenced on April 24 to five years in prison for conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Timothy Frazier, 50, and Didrik Petersen, 46, also of Fairfax, were both found to have held “limited” roles in the offense and were both sentenced on April 24 to three years of probation for conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Daniel Frazier and Timothy Frazier are brothers.
