This week we are going to revisit our editorial agenda for the year and assess progress, or lack thereof, on our four agenda items. We called these “our” issues, to reflect a theme of shared interest regardless of political views.

The first item on our agenda is Our Climate, a recognition that finally the science around climate change is so overwhelming that the only legitimate discussion is how to stop it from getting worse and undo as much of the damage as possible.

This is a global issue of course but the U.S. has to get more engaged.

If anything, the first nine months of the year have produced even more irrefutable scientific evidence of the impact of human behavior on climate change, and that seems to have resulted in some momentum.

Congress actually held a hearing on the issue, which is a bigger deal than it seems.

There’s growing conservative support for a market-based, revenue-neutral carbon tax.

We think we’ve seen progress on this agenda item.
