Severe thunderstorms storm through southern Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. -

Severe thunderstorms warnings for Dane County and much of southern Wisconsin have expired, but the area still should expect to see some heavy rain from the storm.

The National Weather service issued the warning for western Dane County, along with Sauk, Lafayette, Iowa and western Green Counties until 9 a.m. However, they decided not to extend it after the storms weakened slightly

"The main threat from this storm is high winds, but some large hail is possible," said WISC-TV Meteorologist Haddie McLean.

Once the storms pass, McLean said it will turn hot and humid in southern Wisconsin. However, she said there's a chance storms could reform again this afternoon, especially in southeast Wisconsin.

"There's also a chance another round of storms could come through the area late tonight," said McLean. "And the chance of storms won't completely go away this weekend. But once we get past tonight, I believe most of the weekend will just be hot, humid and relatively dry."
