Robert Walter Storm

MONONA-Robert W. Storm, age 86, of Monona, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.

He was born on July 3, 1927, in Algoma, the son of Emil W. and Eva M. (Holdorf) Storm. Bob graduated from Algoma High School in 1945, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He graduated from Michigan Technological University with a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and attended the University of Wisconsin in a graduate program.  Bob married Carole J. Heidmann, the light of his life for over 64 years, on December 30, 1948, in Algoma. He was employed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as Chief Contract Engineer retiring in 1989. Bob was a longtime, active member of the Eastside Evangelical Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Madison Capital Chordsman Barbershop Chorus taking part in competitions in chorus and quartet groups for over 50 years. He was an officer and member of the Monona School Board for 15 years. He coached and played for many Monona baseball, football, and softball teams and was a co-founder of the Monona Silver Lions football team. Bob was also an avid tennis player.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carole; children, Gail (Eugene) Tubbs, Jill (Daniel) Olson, Cynthia (Erling) Dukerschein, Thomas (Kim) Storm, Heidi (Steven) Jackson, Daniel (Cynthia) Storm, Andrew (Julie) Storm; and Frederick “Rick” Storm; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dawn Peterman, Stuart (Lorraine) Storm, and Steven (Linda) Storm. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; sister, Beulah Hucek; and brothers-in-law, Kurt Peterman and John Hucek.

Funeral services will be held at EASTSIDE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2310 Independence Ln., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, with the Rev. Glen Schmeige presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the Eastside Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin.
