Richard William Olson

Richard “Dick” W. Olson, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on July 21, 1931, the son of Harold and Bernette (Blankenheim) Olson. Dick joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948 and served until 1952. On January 20th, 1951, he was married to Mary Elizabeth Griffin. Dick joined the Madison Police Department in 1954, retiring as a Sergeant in 1984.

Dick is survived by his wife Mary; his children, Mary (Larry) Quam, Sharon (Dennis) Heimann, and Dawn Olson; his grandchildren, Teri (Dan) Kalagian, Eric Quam, Dan (Amy), Paul (Sommer), and Austin Heimann; and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Dr., Madison, with Fr. Bart Timmerman officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Dean, St. Mary’s and Agrace for their care.
