Richard M. Reis, Sr.

Richard "Dick" M. Reis, Sr., age 82, of Janesville, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 14, 1930, the son of John and Emma (Verhaven) Reis. He served in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Guam and Japan from 1946 to 1950. He graduated from Milwaukee Boys Tech and attended Marquette University for 2 years. Dick married Teresa Osmanski in Milwaukee on July 7, 1951, and together moved to Janesville in 1962. He owned Northern Conveyor until it was sold in 1992. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church, and its finance committee, a former board member for First People Bank, ran the scorekeeper clock for St. William and Parker High School, and was on the Parker High School Football Chain Gang.

Dick is survived by his wife, Teresa Reis; 4 children: Sharon Hoeft of Janesville, Charlene (Michael) Wittlieff of Janesville, Sandy (Tom) Horne of Valparaiso, IN and Richard M. Reis, Jr. of Janesville; 8 grandchildren: Heidi (Andy) Jegerlehner of Janesville, Greg Hoeft of Footville, Eric Hoeft of Carmel, IN, Jon Ross Wittlieff of Bridgeport, CT, Nicole (Jared) Schultz of Janesville, April (Brad) Chassee of Huntsville, AL, Andy (Courtney) Horne of Virginia and Katie (Eric) Green of Carmel, IN; 7 great grandchildren; loving dog, Sophia; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Reis; and 2 sisters, Violet Hunter and Doris Aldrich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. John Auby officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at St. William Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
