Richard Jawson

Richard F. Jawson, age 82, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, in his home. He was born on July 19, 1931, in Milwaukee, to Frank and Phyllis Jawson. Richard married Mildred La Francois on November 29, 1952, in Massena, N.Y. He was a career soldier in the US Army. Richard served in Korea and Vietnam and was presented with two Bronze medals for Valor. He retired from the Army in 1970 after 21 years of service for his country. Richard’s family traveled the world.

He is survived by his son, Michael F. Jawson of Madison; daughter, Donna Kluth of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Scott Jawson of New York, N.Y., Monica (Ryan) Dubs of Lake Geneva, Andrea Jawson of Chicago, Ill., and Grant Kluth of Austin, Texas; great-grandsons, Evan and Carson Dubs; and brothers, Jerry Jawson of Berlin, and John Jawson of Waukesha. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; parents, Frank and Phyllis; and brothers, Dennis and Bruce Jawson.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013. Burial and military honors will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. In memory of Richard, memorials may be made to the VFW Post 7591, 301 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison. Richard was a soldier’s soldier, and he loved his family very much. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
