Rabies found in Rock County

JANESVILLE, Wis. -

The Rock County Department Public Health (RCDPH) announced a bat submitted to the State Laboratory of Hygiene tested positive for rabies. 

The bat was originally found last Thursday in Footville. A public health officer said the RCDPH received the results last Friday.

The last time a rabid bat has been found in Rock County was 2011, according to the release. 

The RCDPH said anyone who thinks they or a pet may have been bitten should seek medical attention immediately.
