The Fitchburg Police Department said officers responded to the area of Sentinel Pass and Crescent Road at about 10:20 p.m. for a report of a hit-and-run crash and shots fired.

Investigators said a dark-colored SUV-type vehicle had earlier pursued a lighter-colored sedan in the area of Crescent Road. During the chase, gun shots were being fired and one of the vehicles hit a legally parked truck. The SUV and sedan had last been seen on Sentinel Pass.

Police said investigators found the sedan abandoned and shell casings were found in the 4400 block of Crescent Road area.
