Police: Men break into cars in underground garage

MADISON, Wis. -

Two men broke into a car and truck after breaking into an apartment building on Monday, according to a release from the Madison Police Department.

Officers were called to the apartment in the 2800 block of Dryden Drive at 1 a.m. and found the burglars had broken out windows on a truck and car parked in an underground garage and rifled through the contents.

Police said the men fled when a car alarm went off.

The apartment manager showed officers surveillance video and one of the officers identified the men from a 2012 armed robbery case.

Derrick D. Shelton, 22, and Evander O. Bass, 22, both of Madison, were arrested Thursday on suspicion of probation violations. Police are seeking charges of burglary, entry into locked vehicles and damage to property.
