TOWN OF BRISTOL, Wis. -

Autopsies are completed in the investigation of the deaths of an adult male and adult female in the town of Bristol, according to the Dane County Sheriff's office.

The results of the autopsies have not been released.

Officials got a call for a welfare check around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at 6710 Highway N when an employer became concerned that an employee had not shown up for work as expected, according to a release.

Neighbors tell News3 an older couple used to live on the property before turning it over to their daughter and her significant other.

"These are people who are part of our neighborhood. Maybe we didn't know them, but they are part of our neighborhood, and now there's been a tragedy and a loss, and we will probably always ask ourselves why," said David Berggren, a neighbor.

Police said animal control and the medical examiner have been called to the scene.

"The medical examiner’s office is out here right now, as well as our crime scene unit, processing the scene. It’s very early in the investigation at this point so there’s not much detail we can provide, but we will provide more information as it becomes available," said Elise Schaffer, Dane County Sheriff’s Office public information and education officer.

The sheriff’s office said they don’t believe neighbors are in any danger.
