Police: 6 flee from traffic stop; gun found

MADISON, Wis. -

A gun was found after the driver and five passengers fled from a van during a traffic stop Friday night, according to a release from Madison police.

Officers said the van was stopped in a parking lot on South Whitney Way for speeding. The driver and five passengers fled on foot.

Police said they appeared to be males in their late teens. None of them were caught.

A handgun was found in the van.

The owner of the van told police she had loaned the van to a family member.
