Kayaking can be a great family outing. It will allow you to explore the outdoors, have fun, and be active together. Before heading out on your adventure, make sure you are prepared.

  • Wear a life jacket: Make sure all family members wear life jackets at all times. Also make sure the adults are educated on how to pull someone back in the boat if they happen to fall overboard.
  • Know the weather forecast: Before you set off, make sure to look at the weather forecast first. You want to avoid any storms, and also areas with high wind.
  • Know the basics: Make sure at least the adults know the basic paddling strokes and know how to navigate the boat. To be cautious, don’t travel too far away from the shore.
  • Bring supplies: Make sure you pack plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen.
