Dogs with fake lashes: The latest Japanese craze?

As silly as it might sound, images of dogs and cats wearing fake eyelashes are flooding the internet and Japanese social media websites.

Photos posted by Japanese social media users (and reposted by the Japanese blog Kotaku) show pets with fake eyelashes attached onto either the pets' actual lashes or on the fur above the eyes. Not only have the faux lashes proven to be hilarious, but they have also taken pet pampering to a whole new level, reports ABC13.

Although still very much a niche thing in Japan, online communities are continuing to share the images of the trend.
