Dog runs for mayor

One Texas man thinks his dog can do a good job of eliminating some of the "cat fighting" in local politics.

The dog's name is Dylan Westie and his owner, Mark Howard, filed a petition on the Terrier’s behalf to be on the mayoral ballot for the May 5th election in Irving, Texas. However, NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reports that since Dylan is not a registered voter, he doesn't meet the requirements necessary to run for office.

Howard stated that he wasn't serious when he attempted to get Dylan on the ballot, but his disappointment of current city leaders led him to try to draw attention to the problems in local politics.

"If you look at all the cat fighting, what better way to solve a catfight than to get a dog in the mix," Howard told CBS News.
