Storm damage at Country View elementary in Verona

VERONA, Wis. -

Teachers at Country View Elementary School in Verona who lost all their school supplies when a tornado hit the school will get some help from local parents.

The school's Parent Teacher Organization met Thursday to come up with way to raise money for the teachers.

Parents don't want teachers to have to start from scratch when it comes to filling up their classrooms.

"We put in so much energy and this just takes the wind out of the sails," said Allen Flogel, second-grade teacher. "Especially the teachers that lost everything. They're feeling really flattened down right now. This is one way we can come together and build them up."

"All of the money raised will go into our grant fund that we already have established every year for teachers," said Rachel Cannistraro, vice-president of the Country View Parent Teacher Organization.  "But we are going to expand that grant fund, make it easier for them to have money available at the beginning of the school year."

Some teachers lost 20 years of school supplies from the storm.

Any grant money left over will go to families hit by the tornado.

People that would like to help the teachers can donate online here.

The school itself will also need $4 million in repairs. However, the money to fix the school will be paid for by the district.
