Packers sign vet Seneca Wallace

Published On: Sep 02 2013 05:59:17 PM CDT

GREEN BAY -

The Packers have signed Seneca Wallace just days after he was released by San Francisco, Green Bay's opening-game opponent.

Wallace is entering his 10th pro season, and replaces B.J. Coleman as the backup for Aaron Rodgers. Coleman was released Monday.

Wallace left the 49ers last week and San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh said the quarterback was "not going to continue to play football." Wallace apparently is not retiring and was with the Packers for Monday's practice.

Green Bay also signed to the practice squad guard Bryan Collins, wide receivers Charles Johnson and Myles White, cornerback James Nixon, tight end Jake Stoneburner, and quarterback Scott Tolzien.
