William Vatter

William “Bill” Vatter, age 81, of Dodgeville, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation following a brief illness. Bill was born on November 14, 1932 in Cudahy to Rudolph and Elizabeth (Ambruch) Vatter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill married Margariette Johnston of Dodgeville on September 8, 1978. The couple lived in Dodgeville where Bill was a Park Ranger at Governor Dodge State Park. His favorite pass times included fishing and hunting but his greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife, Margariette of Dodgeville; two children, Patti Johnston of Dodgeville and Liz (Caleb) Harris of Blanchardville; six grandchildren, Jasper, Deanara, Garret, Mia, Pippa and Ida Harris; a brother, Rudy (Judy) Vatter of West Bend; two brothers-in-law, David (Karen) Johnston of Dodgeville and Martin Connell of Mineral Point; a sister-in-law, Gladys Johnston of Dodgeville as well as nieces, nephews and friends.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, private family services will be held.
