William F. Caygill

William F. “Bill” Caygill, age 85, of Livingston, died on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Upland Hills Health after a brief illness.

Bill was born on December 18, 1927 in Linden to Fred and Fern (Jewell) Caygill.

Following graduation from the Linden High School in 1945, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married the former Darlene Faull of Linden in 1951. The couple farmed in the Linden and Livingston area. Darlene preceded him in death on February 20, 1972. Bill was a 48 year member of the Linden American Legion Post #493 and a strong supporter of the Linden United Methodist Church. Bill’s greatest joy was farming and family. He also enjoyed watching football, baseball and harness racing.

He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judith in 1954; his parents; a brother, Thomas Caygill; two sisters, Jeanette Otteman and Karen Bennett; two brothers-in-law, Vincent Otteman and David Bennett and a sister in law, Margaret Caygill.

Bill is survived by two sons, Mark (Alana) Caygill of Linden and their children, Nohea; Matt (Melissa); and Amanda (Brian) Calabrese and Gary (Jackie Johnson) Caygill of Livingston and their children, Cody (Kim) and Taylor; five great grandchildren, Brayden, Brock, Ava, Mia Darlene and Dane a sister, Lois (Phillip) Alton of Linden; two brothers, David Caygill of Linden and Jack (Donna) Caygill of Linden as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville. Pastor Becky Henke will officiate assisted by Anthony Edge. Burial will be in the Linden Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Linden American Legion Post #493. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday after 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Linden United Methodist Church would be greatly appreciated.
