William A. Barry, age 87, of Janesville, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville.
He was born in Janesville on Jan. 9, 1926, the son of George and Catherine (Cunningham) Barry. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he received the Victory Ribbon. William married Marjorie Canney in Montreal, WI on Dec. 29, 1956, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 2007. He had been employed by General Motors until his retirement. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
William is survived by his son, William (Beth) Barry, Jr. of New Braunfels, TX and their 3 children: Kaitlin, Cullen and Ryan Barry; his daughter, Anne (Robert) Hart of Janesville and their 2 children: Bertha and Bobby Hart; 2 sisters, Helen Campion and Ruth Madden both of Janesville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: wife; 3 brothers: Fr. Dennis Barry, George "Bud" Barry and Jim Barry and a sister, Mary Barry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. Randy Timmerman officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Lasting Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
