Walter W. Steinmetz “Walt” 82, passed away Wednesday September 25, 2013. Walt was born June 13, 1931 to Almeda (Parker) and William Steinmetz in Vernon County, WI. He served in the Navy from 1951-1955. Walt married Joan Swiggum on December 22, 1951. After leaving the Navy the couple moved to Milton, WI. He worked at General Motors over 40 years, he was also a substitute mail carrier for the Milton Junction Post Office for over 10 years. Walt loved to go on walks every day, work outside, go antiquing and go to Red Wing Conventions.

Walt is survived by his wife of 62 years: their children Mark (Kathy), Brad (Kelly) and one grandchild Sarah all of Janesville, WI. His sisters Bernadine Appleman and Irma Gilman of LaFarge, WI.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marjorie Rice.

Private services will be held at the Seland Huston Funeral Home in LaFarge. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements. Online condolences can be made at prattfuneralservice.com.
