Thomas Francis Dolan

Dodgeville - Thomas Francis Dolan, age 80, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side after a long battle with cancer at Upland Hills Hospital on June 10, 2013.

He was born on August 15, 1932, son of Mary Ann (Spellacy) and James Dolan in the Barreltown Township of Mineral Point, WI. Tom graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army stationed in Alaska during the Korean War.

Tom married Elizabeth (Betty) Straka in 1955 and together raised 8 children. He enjoyed farming for 35 years and was proud to share his passion with his sons. In 1988, he started a second career of almost 25 years with Lands' End. Tom was a man of faith and the most important thing was his family. He was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, served on the parish council, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved playing cards, reading, gardening, western movies, and farming.

Tom is survived by Betty, his wife of 58 years; his children, Richard Dolan and Paul (Mary) Dolan, Dodgeville; Veronica (Jerry) Becker, Neillsville; Barbara (David) Dolan-Wallace, Green Bay; Margaret (James) Balkovec, New Jersey; David Dolan (Rhonda Riedner), Dodgeville; Patrick Dolan (Debra Schieldt), McFarland; and Julie Pierick (Patrick Pittz), Dodgeville; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Wilma Dolan, Dodgeville. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, James and John Dolan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2013 at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Father Patrick Wendler will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the Dodgeville Veterans. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville, where a rosary service will be held at 8:00 p.m.
