Shirley A. Gorman, age 68, of Janesville, died on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. She was born in Richland Center on Feb. 14, 1945, the daughter of Walter and Bessie (Higginbotham) Cooper. She was raised in Lone Rock and graduated from River Valley High School in 1964. Shirley married Vincent "Pat" Gorman in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Janesville on Feb. 27, 1965. She had been employed by Prent Corporation for 38 years and retired in October of 2013. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church. Shirley enjoyed bowling in her earlier years, tending to her flower gardens, an avid bird watcher, and was a Conway Twitty fan. But most of all she dearly loved her grandchildren and attending their activities.

She is survived by her husband, Pat; 2 children, Randy (Nancy) Gorman and Mark (Stacy) Gorman both of Janesville; 5 grandchildren: Claire, Allyson and Jay Gorman, Bria and Brooke Gorman; sister, Betty Christianson of Richland Center; in-laws, Mary Gorman of Lone Rock, Jim (Judy) Gorman of Janesville, Dave (Dorothy) Gorman of Janesville and Mary Ellen (Jerry) Boettcher of Sauk City; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Danny Cooper; infant sister, Linda Cooper; and 2 brothers-in-law, Tom Gorman and Raymond Christianson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. John Auby officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. William Catholic Church, Janesville. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
